MUSCHAMP FAMILY HISTORY
Vulneror non Vincor
The Muschamp’s of Camberwell seemed to begin with Thomas who was the Sheriff of London in 1463. His grandson, Christopher Muschamp of Carshalton was Baron of the Exchequer and Christopher’s brother, William, married a young lady called Mary Agmondesham. In 1619, Williams grandson, Agmondesham Muschamp was born, he became a Colonel before dying in 1648. He had a son, Denny, who went on to become Muster Master General in Northern Ireland. Agmondesham had a nephew, also called Agmondesham who married Dorothy Ashcroft and they had a daughter, Anne, who married John Vesey.
Anne and John Vesey had a son called Agmondesham and he is the first of our Royal links. King Charles II had an illegitimate daughter called Mary, who married William Sarsfield and, in 1676, they had a daughter called Charlotte, who was to become Agmondesham’s wife. Their daughter, Anne was born around 1700 and married John Bingham sometime before 1730. Anne’s granddaughter, Lavinia was born 27th July 1762 and married George John Spencer on 6th March 1781. She could never have imagined that, almost exactly 200 years after her own wedding, her gt gt gt granddaughter, Diana, would take part in a wedding which would be seen all over the world, with her marriage to HRH Prince Charles.
So, the future King William has just as much Muschamp blood as Windsor blood….
